The need for Family Promise far exceeds our capacity. Everyday we answer desperate calls from moms and dads looking for a place to sleep and a fresh start for their children. Unfortunately, we are often unable to house these families, but we are able to provide assistance. We offer supportive services for those residing in Hendricks County who are homeless or near-homeless. The families receive all the case management, referrals and resources needed to assist in securing housing.
This week one of our supportive services families (mom and two daughters) found a home with the help of our Family Advocates, Melody and Aaron. In the last three weeks, they moved out of their car, into an extended-stay hotel, and now into their own apartment. This was a coordinated community effort to address the needs of this family! It certainly helped that she had a vehicle, job and good credit! Currently, Family Promise is assisting five additional families through intense, supportive services along with our three residential families.
